The programming community made a mistake, everybody is now paying by drowning in generated 💩... From entire opensource projects to annoyed coworkers.
They were supposed to be languages, to communicate from users to users on what the machine is doing, not talking to the machine.

What I mean by that is a mistake was made on keeping archaic text files, layers of complex mechanisms, an idea of "simplicity" that actually meant forcing the users to use a specific feature set.
All of that lead to all people who needed to program left out of the craft.

I think it's on the right track but not for the right reasons... the prog community got so stuck on gate kept concepts, llms promising to dodge the gate is hard to resist.

Render graphs as data are the next step IMO:

* Massively improves iteration speed

* Eases multi title / platform development

* More powerful than RHIs: E.g. can fuse rasterization and compute on tiled platforms.

I’ve been arguing recently that Rendergraph are slightly more technical version of what the movie industry call “compositors”.
Having them in data/content leave users in both complete understanding and control of the said pipeline.
