I meant in Europe, not Western Palaearctic. There are indeed urban roosts in the middle East, and I expect more occur in southern Europe.

Back to Portugal just in time to count Barn Swallows in the only known winter urban roost of the Western Palaeartic. A local religious celebration will start soon, likely affecting the roost due to the very many people and fireworks in the vicinity.
