We do still have some wildfire smoke in the air, but it's only having a small impact on our air quality. Most of us will stay dry and warm with highs in the upper 70s and low 80s. Just a few scattered showers and thunderstorms will be popping up this afternoon, mostly in and around the mountains.

Some isolated showers and thunderstorms are popping up this afternoon. Most of today's showers and storms will be in and around the mountains, meaning a lot of us will stay dry through the day. But if you're spending time outdoors make sure to keep a radar handy and maybe an umbrella too!

The smoke has temporarily cleared out of Newport and we're seeing some blue sky for the first time in what feels like a very long time.

But unfortunately, there's no relief for Rutland yet. That smoke is still hanging around this morning.

Central and southern Vermont and New Hampshire are still seeing reduced air quality, but northern areas are starting to see improvement! Northern New York and northern New Hampshire into the Northeast Kingdom are even seeing good air quality!

Former New York prison guard sentenced to 15 years for beating death of inmate A former corrections officer has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for his role in the death of an inmate at a New York prison.

Christopher Walrath was one of six guards charged with murder in the death of Robert Brooks, who was pummeled at the Marcy Correctional Facility on Dec. 9. Walrath pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter in May under the first plea deal among the guards charged with murder.
