Thank you! Yeah, it’s like a language all its own. I can’t imagine learning it as a teen, it’s super complex. That’s exciting for them! Do they make any certain styles of art with it?

An album cover for a protest folk record I’m in the process of recording. The centerpiece is the sun setting on an ice cube, which is melting on a wooden deck in the middle of a nondescript body of water. The repeating handwritten text on the perimeter reads “MEAN THINGS BETTER THINGS, DYLAN MICHAEL MURPHY” While it may have the appearance of AI generated art to some people, I was going for a 70’s prog album cover style, with simple imagery in a Salvador Dali-inspired landscape.

I’ve been getting that response for an album cover I made in Blender, the 3D software. I made this all from scratch, and researched how to make it look realistic — it took me a long time but everyone just says it’s AI

I didn’t expect this to be a good story because why the hell is someone who owns a major hotel chain allowed to hold such a powerful office???

I think I’ve heard he’s a good governor, but I still think public offices should be held by people who don’t own massive companies 🤷‍♂️

Being the 666th like on a Tom Waits video is now my proudest accomplishment.

I sent my message to Philm!! Also I hope he makes a list of all these artists so we can go back and check them out all in one place, after the 24hr story disappears. So much cool art to find!!

Yeah, the convenience is really great when you want to invest in music, but a) it can be overwhelming to have access to everything and lose focus on one song/album at a time, and b) there are other streaming services that pay more and don’t invest in war (for now🤞). This is a dystopia

It’s really discouraging to spend over a year working on a song and have literally no one listen to it. I’m the only one who streamed it….why would I stay on this platform?

Caught up on the Star Trek movies up to Generations, now back to DS9!

Yeah, I wonder if it’s just easier to keep DistroKid (etc) and just remove Spotify as a store! Not that Apple Music/Amazon are any better. It’s a lose-lose for small artists either way I think. I think the solution is just more investment in local live shows and physical media

Certainly! But I don’t believe they allow cover songs. And I’m about 50/50 covers/originals. Also I play jazz which is ALL covers. So it’s not a perfect platform but I do want to invest more effort on Bandcamp.

Debating removing my music from Spotify. I believe it’s the right thing to do, but for small independents like myself, it feels like there’s no better option. Like I’m closing off any chance to gain listeners or any real success. Which, in context, is very privileged to say.
