It means a lot for my work to be recognised in this way as I enter the 3rd year of my PhD. Looking forward to finishing up some projects as well as starting my first neurophysiology study this year.

I’m really proud to say that last week I was awarded the Cardiff University, School of Psychology, Junior Researcher of the Year 2025 prize.

I’m going to be sharing data from my latest study looking at ‘How Children Encode What and Where information? Evidence from Eye Movements’ 👀.

I also strongly believe in ensuring that all students are represented in their experiences at University. I endeavour to do this in the tutorials which I deliver to first year undergraduate students by asking for their feedback and striving to incorporate the feedback into future sessions.

I feel it’s vital to create environments where student participation & collaboration is strongly encouraged. I try to foster this community by helping to run the PGR Research Skills Workshops in the School of Psychology at Cardiff University, where PhD students share their skills with each other.

I’m teaching for the first time (3 hours back to back every two weeks) this year and taught my second batch of tutorials to 1st year UGs today.
Thought I would share some thoughts -

I can’t wait to see what the next 12 months hold. But could time please slow down - the first 12 have flown by too quickly!!

Today marks the start of the second year of my PhD. Here are some thoughts 🧠on the first 12 months:
- Doing a PhD is by far one of the best decision’s I’ve ever made
- Everyday I’m surrounded by amazing people who energise and inspire me 🤩
- The break through highs are worth the little struggles

Data Analysis = a job for Monday 📊

Something to be carefully pondered.

As I enter the 2nd year of my PhD what comes next is something I’ve started thinking about - especially which avenue will bring me the most joy.

So far academia is winning on the enjoyment scale in every aspect - let’s see if it stays that way!!
