Whereas good can be expressed in more ways than we can count, many ways for each person at any time, each act special and meaningful and something to build life itself upon. Good is limitless and it has not all been done. For the human being, goodness is an open frontier.

Even when we think we have heard a new method of cruelty, we realize it's all been done, and it's still just cruelty, with no ultimate purpose in society, and, time after time, it ends up in miserable failure.

Evil, harm, and hate are always the same story, horrible and horribly boring. However the evil is done, it always gets to the same exact place.

From what I wrote on Facebook on Jan. 30 (this will be in parts due to space limits):

Leo Tolstoy wrote in Anna Karenina that, "Happy families are all alike; every unhappy family is unhappy in its own way."
I think the concept applies to good and evil, too, but in the opposite direction.

A lot of us read Fahrenheit 451, Animal Farm, 1984, Lord of the Flies, and The Diary of a Young Girl (Anne Frank), when we were kids. Is it past time for grown-ups to read them again (or maybe for the first time)?
