Fwiw that’s the rule for any P4 or P5 wager in New York. Off the turf after a sequence has started always results in it being an ALL race.

They made announcements verbally on the feed. All of the off the turf races were counted as ALL for P5 purposes.

Unfortunately, 4 horses just leapfrogged Baeza on the Derby leaderboard: Burnham Square (130), East Avenue (60), and River Thames (50), and Render Judgment (39)

Wild finish to the Blue Grass as Burnham Square just gets up over a very game East Avenue. The runner-up might have been best considering the pace, but Burnham Square did go very wide. Seems doubtful we just saw the Derby winner.

Conversely, that was a disaster for Citizen Bull. For once he didn’t get an uncontested lead, and he had nothing left to give in the stretch. As for Barnes, it was clear from the start (and before that for some of us) that he wasn’t in here to win.

Journalism had every reason to lose that race after getting stopped on the far turn, but he found another gear to run down Baeza. The runner-up obviously ran huge. I really hope 37.5 points is enough to get in the Derby.
