Knowing what to expect made it easier to settle into the story's shifting perspectives and notice the smaller details she'd missed the first time around. Keri, reading it for the first time after loving the movie, appreciated the book's low-stakes magical realism and cozy vibe, even if she wished the magic played a bigger role like it does on screen. Lindsey loved the atmosphere, the sisterly bond, and the sense of family, but found the constant point-of-view changes a bit distracting and the pacing hard to follow at times. he desires of the heart.
