Britain, France, Germany, the GCC (Bahrain, Kuwait, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Oman) are currently knocking down Iranian missiles and drones.

And this is just Iran. Not a peer.

But gas prices will go up for everyone.

I don’t disagree, actually.
It’s just that, years of clear evidence notwithstanding, my brain still can’t accept just how dire our situation is, just how many opportunities we had to quash it and didn’t (“we” in the broadest sense), just how powerless we now are.

Yes, he’s lost all hope of winning in November.
Which makes it all the more vital for him to avoid that, either by rigging elections or canceling them.
We have to find whatever judicial and legislative pressure points we can - NOW - to prevent this.
November seems a long way off, but it’s a big job.

Why will the Republicans in Congress not acknowledge how untenable this is and put an end to this lawless, heartless abuse?

It’s hard to grasp just how awful this all is. Hard to imagine how we ever recover.

They also know they can get away with it, and I suspect that they positively revel in knowing they can be blatantly dishonest with impunity.
