Dense development is not the enemy of green spaces in the city; it is a prerequisite for them. And vice versa.

Fly over Berlin with Google Earth, one of the densest and greenest cities in Europe.

US science after a year of Trump: what has been lost and what remains A series of graphics reveals how the Trump administration has sought historic cuts to science and the research workforce.

Trump has been in office for one year. We at @nature.com did a deep dive looking at the administration's disruption of science in numbers.

Take a lookβ€”the numbers are staggering. By me, @dangaristo.bsky.social, Jeff Tollefson, @kimay.bsky.social, & help from @noamross.net @scott-delaney.bsky.social

Best part about a #heatpump is having a warm house throughout the day, as it is running low and slow all the time. Our gas boiler would turn off 10am-3pm which made it very cold when working from home.

High density residential street in downtown Vancouver with 5(!) rows of street trees creating β€œkissing canopies”.

This is really important.

The main thing that makes it hard to achieve integrated nature and green in cities isn’t density of buildings or density of people β€” it's density of cars. And the more well-designed and integrated density of people & buildings you achieve, the fewer cars you need or want.

Our latest research explores how national policy in #Scotland can support #behaviourchange to encourage outdoor recreation for health and wellbeing.
Using the #BehaviourChangeWheel, we identify gaps and opportunities to make nature more accessible and inclusive.

Most animals on this island nation are found nowhere else on Earth. And now they’re vanishing. The only way to save them is to put people first.

🚨Just launched: @vox.com's most ambitious biodviersity reporting project of the year.

@benjij.bsky.social went to Madagascar to find out what it takes to save one of the world’s most unique ecosystems β€” and learned that the answer begins with putting people first.

This is great "...a small organization is trying to restore the fishery...The goal of the project is to help people. Conservation is just a byproduct".
As the climate and biodiversity crises are caused by humans, the solution is putting people at the heart of nature conservation solutions.
