My experience has been with adults and young people alike, is that Americans want a history that tells the bad along with the good. They are smart enough to know that that is the nature of life.

Just how morally, ethically, intellectually bankrupt do you have to be to argue that 15-year-olds can sell sex but canβt affirm gender

The Supreme Court once again butchers equity and the law of stays in the course of making the world a worse place. And Justice Jackson is once again there to call them out on it with an opinion that will be a must-teach in any Remedies class

Eugenics isn't deadβit's thriving in tech
A new book takes on the throughline from the rise of 20th-century eugenics to Silicon Valley.
Interesting article in Mother Jones: Eugenics Isnβt DeadβItβs Thriving in Tech.
In her book Predatory Data, Professor Anita Say Chan looks at the history and current use of data in devaluing human beings along eugenicist lines.

Zohran Mamdani's Establishment-Fighting Campaign Built Community for Young People
βWhat Mamdani has done is not only inspire and mobilize young people, but he has exposed the establishment and some of their calcified views of participation and inclusion.β
here is my story about how Zohran's focus on community amid the loneliness epidemic helped young people connect their politics to an organizing infrastructure, that interviewed ZM, and does not use the NYT's framing of "they don't know how to make friends" :-) and also ran 4 days before NYT's lol

More Young People Will Go Hungry Without SNAP
βWeβre trying to make it, but itβs been hard.β
It feels a bit weird to post right now in light of what has happened to @teenvogue.com and so much of the incredible team there. What sources shared here is important, & Iβm grateful I got to work on this. I reported on how young people are being impacted by delays to SNAP: βItβs about survival.β

At long last, and after untold legal fees, UC has released the DoJ's proposed settlement terms to UCLA. Over $1B in fines, invasive monitoring, ideological vetting of international students, exclusion of trans athletes, etc. This would destroy the university as we know it.

But the real work happens everyday in our communities. Get organized, lead with love, and move in solidarity.

ICE admits that up to 50% of arrests in its Chicago raids are "collateral.β These aren't statistics. They are parents taken from their children, neighbors taken from our communities. When does a "collateral" U.S. citizen child's trauma matter? This isn't law enforcement; it's a campaign of terror.
