Overheard a great bit of old-school-South-East-London-blokes-in-their-50s chat between two fellas at the football yesterday…

‘But I always thought you were Little Tel’
‘Nah’
‘So are you Big Tel?’
‘Nah, I’m Middle Tel’

London grief rave helps mourners celebrate loved ones The event aims to allow people to celebrate and remember those they have lost, and help process grief.

There should be a word for that brief bit of worry and then relief you feel when you see your workplace on the news, and then see that it's a nice story...

Turns out the 20mph limit was great idea! Two years on from the controversial policy, it's becoming increasingly clear that the doubters were wrong

Question for anyone who's ever had their mobile phone stolen from them in the street whilst listening to music through airpods...

Does the music get quieter as the thief runs/cycles away?

Followed this up by chipping the hell out of my phone’s screen through dropping and accidentally volleying it down the stairs at Blackfriars.

Back in Deptford this morning just as the market was clattering and bantering into existence. Fussed the Terry’s Discount Store shop cat. The Waiting Room was blasting out ‘Cum on Feel the Noize’.

Solid early Wednesdaying. No notes.

I don't know what it says of me, or of the world in general, but for the last few days the only way I've been able to switch off at night is to watch an episode of the 1995 BBC documentary series The Death of Yugoslavia.

A clipping of “Captian Gary’s Chat” from the “Red All Over” fanzine, reading “I am Gary Brabin who recently was given the great honour to be Captain of Doncaster Rovers. I can't really explain the feeling of leading the team out.
There is more to being Captain than just wearing an arm band. I would just like to thank the Boss Sammy Chung and Ken Richardson for standing by me and giving me this great honour.
As fans will know I have got bags of ambition and would love to be the Captain when Rovers get promotion this season. Although I am Liverpool born and "bread" I now class myself as a Donny Lad.
My biggest disappointment was our exit from the FA Cup at the hands of Mansfield Town, but hopefully this can be put right by winning promotion for the supporters who l'd like to think I've got close to during my time at the Club.
LOTS OF LOVE AND SEXY KISSES.

For fans of misused idioms one of the guys at the next table to me in the coffee shop I'm working from keeps making reference to 'the gorilla in the room'.

First target is to have two (of the 14) chapters, and an introduction, completed to pitch out to publishers.

Setting myself the target of 10 days from now. If one of you could check back in and really bollock me in about eight days time that'd be really appreciated.

I'm writing a book on Welsh football.

I tried to write one two years ago, but abandoned it after I lost all confidence in the project, and myself tbh.

So, putting this here in both an act of commitment for myself, and in the hope that some of you hold me to account to deliver this time.

I know you’re not following me for film insight, but I went to see The Ballad of Wallis Island this evening and I just need to tell someone that it’s a really wonderful thing, so here we are.

Tim Key is both brilliantly Tim Key, but also offers a real depth that’s genuinely moving.

Go and see it

This has made my day.

Still a buzz seeing my name in @wsc.co.uk after all these years.

In the latest issue (455) I’ve written about how weird (and ultimately rubbish) it is not being there for your hometown team’s big day.

Available in shops & online now, with a free Euro 2025 wall chart included! They’re spoiling us.

They're standing on the edge of a cemetery too, it's a great place to watch football. I couldn't believe the size of the crowd. A small village team that reformed in the summer and were playing at the very lowest level possible... there were 200 there. They let a flare off when they went 1-0 up.
