totally agree - this is a point I make repeatedly on @instituteforgovernment.org.uk #Insidebriefing podcasts. Hunt was deeply irresponsible on the NIC cuts and this overshadows all his other decisions.

There's too much sport and sun and heat at the moment. Why can't it be spread out evenly over the year? (OK - I'll give you Dec and Jan)

I'm a 60+ (how did that happen!) experienced hiker and currently planning my upcoming week's hiking around Keswick. I will avoid Striding Edge having been scared by it 30 yrs ago. I will go up to Helvellyn from the Thirlmere side (several places to park and fairly straightforward). Splendid views.

The Labour welfare rebels are right. This hounding of disabled people will damage the party for years to come | Frances Ryan Opposition is mounting and No 10 is preparing a raft of concessions. But whatever happens next, the moral stain will remain, says Guardian columnist Frances Ryan

The biggest media failure on the bombing of Iran is that every article should have started with: "The Iran nuclear deal signed in 2015 effectively curtailed Iran's nuclear program until the US withdrew in 2018, under pressure from Israel".

Without this context, any commentary is worthless.

I went to Moscow several times as part of academic life and had a chance to be a bit of a tourist. I regret not visit St Petersburg and no longer hope to do so.

The FT article about @sellathechemist.mastodon.social.ap.brid.gy returning his Royal Society is the most shared article on Mastodon.

I do understand the aggregate (financial) benefits, but thinly spread, multiple fishing communiteis have a larger social imprint than cash figures alone imply. Like mines, and stell works and so on.

Because they're crap at comms. They spend all their time chasing votes in areas they don't believe in, and don't try to act as they (not Sir K of course - cf. "Get In" etc) believe. What's the point of power if you dare not use it? Can anybody imagine the Tories/Reform "chasing the Labour vote"?

Kudos to #Harvard for standing up to the #Trump admin.

Friday, April 11, the Trump admin expanded its list of demands to Harvard. (Note that Harvard made it public on the Harvard website.) […]
