Higher ed friends: students are hit with a lot of rules, deadlines, and policies when classes started. Reminders don't mean they aren't taking college seriously. Your ADHD students will appreciate the reminders and I'm guessing they won't be the only ones. Extend some grace these first few weeks!

It's really interesting when you get accommodations letters for disabled students and you can say to them (and yourself), "All of these are already addressed in my course for all students because I run an accessible classroom."

Just sayin!

This is a public health failure. Again.

The public health emergency (which provided funding) was rescinded with Biden saying “we have the tools” to manage COVID. But the tools are inaccessible. Vaccines are expensive. Masks are being banned.

This is story is one of the nearly 200 (that we know about) of cops exploiting young people they encounter through the "Explorer" program. The program is supposed to foster an interest in policing in young people, but the cops are using it to recruit victims.

Accommodations for ADHD go beyond tests! Yes, there are accommodations such as 1.5 time for tests, but there are a range of accommodations that can help with long lectures, big assignments, and even meeting with your advisor.

#ADHD students, there are a whole bunch of formal accommodations that can help you, even in classes without exams. Don't assume test accommodations are it in higher ed.

I think “twice exceptional” created because too many people thought someone who was a strong reader or good student couldn’t have ADHD or some other learning issue. So many people denied ADHD diagnosis because they were in college! But, yes, people have made it very weird.

Register with the disability office because •Your circumstances may change. •The process can take time. • New technology may be available. to already be registered. wouldn't have thought of. •If anything goes wrong and you need help, it's better • They may have ideas for accommodations that you Graphic by the ADHD Academic. Do not reuse without permission.

I think EVERY student, graduate students included, should register with the disability office, and here's why.
