So I've been rereading a lot of Dragon Ball for this video, and this interaction is kind of hilarious.

The anime makes Goku staying dead this really wholesome reflective moment, but here Gohan's like "I am not ready bro, don't go" and Goku's ignores it and says "you'll see me when I'm dead bye!"

The best Sonic X episode is still Shadow The Assassin. Something about Tails having to step up and fight Sonic's rival has always been a really cool idea to me.

Lucy pulls the football away from a running Charlie Brown who flings himself into the air while saying AAUGH!. Instead of landing, Charlie Brown drifts further into the sky. He says "haha yes, it is finally happening..." He goes up further and says "I am ascending to the real of God to take my fated place at his right hand." He is now a speck in the atmosphere and says "this is the reward for my endless suffering! This is my reward!!" Lucy looks on the whole time in awed disbelief.

It’s even the use of the term content that makes it more revealing.

These are no longer features or modes. They’re “more content” for content creators to make videos about to keep the games relevant.

It’s like every game is competing to see which can get you completely addicted first.

But every now and again I see this take online going “the game’s dead. No support post release?” and sometimes they have a point but a lot of the time it’s like… the game is done.

It’s content for the sake of content. It’s a big reason why I find myself leaning to more retro titles.

There’s a place for this stuff and at its most positive giving players incentives to go back and revisit games is cool.

But at its worst it’s predatory, incentivises rushed unfinished releases for stakeholders and overall makes games feel endless in a way I don’t particularly enjoy.

The idea that a game is “dead” because there isn’t an extra campaign or character or mode on the horizon is really hurting how general audiences consume media.

It’s like this slow transition in making every modern release feel like a glorified mobile game with daily login incentives and drops.

Delayed on this one but I’m not really big on games feeling like glorified content farms.

Call me an old head, but I miss when games used to end and that was okay. Instead, there’s this pressure by consumers and developers to spur out new content in Season Passes and Content roadmaps.
