Some thoughts: When using GenAi as a mood board you don't get sources. This means you deprive yourself from knowledge. You generated a location? You deprived yourself of knowing more about the interesting parts of the world and why things came to be. Generate an armor or costume? You deprived yourself on real world techniques, function, form and history. You generated art inspirations? You deprive yourself of learning about artists from history or lock out living ones from potentially being hired. Ethical issues of using GenAi models aside, one ends up making visuals mood boards devoid of reality and history. With it one deprives themselves from learning about our world and who is living in it, inadvertently making your work weaker, because of how detached it is from our shared human reality and history.
Been thinking on the use of GenAi for mood boards. Ethics and legal risks aside, I truly believe using GenAi as references deprives one of many pivotal things.
Here’s a blurb on what I mean:
Every writer who generates a slop image for their work is a class traitor.
"I can't afford a visual artist"
So your solution is stabbing artists in the back? Stealing from them?
Furthermore, slop-generated imagery suggests slop-generated writing. That's how you're presenting yourself.
Develop “concept art”?? 💀 💀 💀
All the image models solely rely on stolen work of countless of artists to function at capacity.
Using them not only is deeply unethical but puts the company at risk.
Not worth it and I truly hope ( hell, I’m begging) that they reconsider 😭
Maybe my brain is too immersed in the bad stuff, but I genuinely don't understand the people who think this kind of technology is "neat". This is like the 21st century's atomic bomb, except this evil tech can be used by literally anybody with an internet connection. It's too much power. Kill it.

virtually attending a workshop tonight and instructor mentioned using chatGPT to search for something if google isn't helping and i do not care that i am insufferable anymore i have simply accepted i am the insufferable guy everyone knows when it comes to this shit
