I fancy myself pretty smart, but I didnโ€™t follow that all the way. What do you think about making a video explainer breaking it down even more? Iโ€™d be curious to understand what youโ€™re saying here.

What if everyone eager to throw money at a "liberal joe rogan" that doesn't exist instead bought one failing local newspaper and hired a handful of real reporters and simply told them to go do journalism and print it.

AI startups that are like "we're gonna automate all the things" are going to lose so badly to ones that figure out novel interfaces that keep humans deeply in the loop & are best at intelligently presenting options while using AI to gently streamline out tedium

I donโ€™t think we want a world where a few oligarchs can influence our beliefs very heavily, including in subtle ways by shaping what their social media sites do, where they can plagiarize anything without consequence, where they can defame anybody without consequence. We donโ€™t allow that with people. With people, we say, โ€œWell, youโ€™re infringing on this personโ€™s copyright, youโ€™re defaming them, this is hate speech.โ€ And yet, because machines arenโ€™t clearly people, and because the laws were designed before machines like this were widespread, there are a lot of holes in the current legal structure that basically let the companies get away with anything they want. Every effort to hold them liable, whether for smaller things โ€” like defaming an individual โ€” or larger things โ€” like conceivably giving rise to some cyber-attack that takes out the infrastructure for the entire United States for five days or whatever. They have resisted having any liability whatsoever.

โ€œWhen I was young, because I was young once like you, I heard many organ grinders play, and I can assure you no two tunes ever sounded the same, even on the same instrument. Thatโ€™s how it is, isnโ€™t it? The less love you put into things the more they resemble one another. The same goes for stories, everyone knows them by heart, but when someone tells them with love, I donโ€™t know, they seem new.โ€

Am I supposed to be flattered enough to write back and be ensnared into a scheme of some sort?

The Proposed AI Moratorium Will Harm People with Disabilities. Hereโ€™s How. | TechPolicy.Press A proposed 10-year federal moratorium on state AI laws could expose people with disabilities to harm, Ariana Aboulafia and Travis Hall write.

The proposed 10-year AI regulation ban would be devastating for disability rights. AI tools in high-stakes contexts like employment and healthcare disproportionately harm disabled people. We can't let them run unchecked for a decade. Learn more here:
