That’s where I’m landing.

Maybe that’s situational or seasonal and an appropriate response but also a sign of depression. I probably shouldn’t keep hoping it’s clears.

also I might need to just admit that all things (global and personal) might have tipped me over to being depressed.
I just can’t picture well how we dial back from disaster on a global scale, I want to picture it but I’m just so pessimistic right now.

I’m tired, trying to be supportive and also not overstep while staying in a cluttered house mid chaotic renovation. Sometimes I feel like I’m doing okay & other points oof. It’s all testing my boundaries a bit.

So this week has been spent traveling unexpectedly to PR to care for my mom who has overextended herself & ended up hospitalized for a double hernia. She avoided emergency surgery but we’ve been trying to wrap things up so she can head back to NY.

As someone who grew up on (white) teen movies, I was struck by how much that Patel scene looked like something straight out of a spec script in the 1980s. The racialized minority over performing nationalism as white frat boys clearly broadcast to everyone but him that he is not really one of them.

It really took me back! I searched Alaska on my kindle and I only had 6 books pop up. This one was oldest! But I sure didn’t recognize it! Bad Assassin is a much better title!
