ICYMI: A tentative deal was reached with @aupe.org AHS Nursing Care members avoiding a strike. The deal came through shortly after I got to the picket line on Saturday.

The UCP should be focused on reaching a deal with health care workers and strengthening public health care. Instead, they are pushing American-style two-tier health care and they have AHS calling patients to cancel their pending surgeries.

Danielle Smith is using the fact that workers want better patient conditions and a raise so they can keep up with the cost of living as an opportunity to cancel public surgeries for people in pain and in need of procedures to prevent worse health outcomes.

Albertans don’t want to pull out a credit card when they visit a doctor. They’ve told Conservative Premiers this time and time again, which is why Danielle Smith promised to protect public health care in the last election.

The UCP just voted against our bill to increase the minimum wage. We have the lowest minimum wage in the country. Food bank use is on the rise. 40% of the people earning minimum wage are supporting their children. It hasn’t gone up since 2018 when Alberta’s NDP was in government.

Folks told us they are frustrated with Danielle Smith’s attacks on teachers, the growing strain on our public health care system, and the UCP’s reckless instability.

We honour the generations of Canadians who gave their lives in service, as well as those who returned carrying wounds both visible and invisible.

The UCP must take responsibility and fix the crisis they have created in our public health care system.

The suspension of obstetrical services in Cold Lake is unacceptable. Families in Cold Lake and across Alberta deserve access to safe, reliable care close to home, not months of uncertainty.

Today, on National Indigenous Veterans Day, we honour the strength, courage, and resilience of Métis, First Nations, and Inuit veterans who served Canada.

Their service and sacrifice have too often gone unrecognized, yet their contributions are woven into the fabric of our shared history.

Each person brings their own story, strength, and dreams, and together they make our communities even stronger.

Yesterday I had the great honour of joining Citizenship Judge James Clover to welcome 68 new Canadians from 28 countries! 🇨🇦

It’s always such a moving experience to witness people from around the world take the Oath of Citizenship and officially become Canadians.

I had such a fun time trick-or-treating in Edmonton-Glenora last week! 🎃 It was great to see so many creative and spooky costumes out in the community. 👻🕸️
