The multi-pronged study explores teen–museum dynamics in NYC through: a review of the literature on best practices in teen engagement, a survey of 10 NYC visual arts institutions, observation of multiple teen programs, and an interview with Caroline Quigley (then head of Teen Art Week NYC).

Hyperbolic headlines often tell us that Gen Z (& Gen Alpha) are fundamentally different learners & cultural participants. This study set out to examine whether those claims align with what educators are actually experiencing, and to better understand how NYC museums are engaging the next generation.
