Jim Hammond, the original Human Torch, flies through the New York City skyline, frustrated by his comrades before flashing back to his discovery of the Auschwitz concentration camp. In the memory, he melts through the wire fence and strides through a hail of gunfire from panicked Nazis, leaving footprints in his wake as he makes his way to the barracks. Present day Torch: None of them understand. They weren't there. How could they. Past Guard #1: Gott in Himmel? Past Guard #2: Scheisse! Scheisse! Past Torch: When I first heard... I couldn't believe it was true. I had to see.

The Human Torch strides through the barracks of Auschwitz, lighting them ablaze as he passes. He passes Nazi guards, unphased by their gunfire, & approaches the furnace door. It's wheel-lock melts under his touch as he opens it. Human Torch, monologing: I have long wondered why... Why, when I was first... Exposed to the air humanity breathes... Why I burst into flame. Why my body would react the way it did. What purpose did it serve? And then I heard what you did here. What you did to people.

The Human Torch stands within one of Auschwitz' many furnaces, two smoldering pulls of human bodies on either side of him. As he stands solemnly monologing to the Nazi guards, the ambient heat his body radiates causes several to crumble to ashes. Human Torch, monologing: Professor Horton said it was an accident that I burst into flame. But what if he knew... What if he intended this -- he already knew what you were doing? My creator, Phineas Horton, was Jewish. You burned them.

Jim Hammond, the Human Torch, turns to the Nazi guards of Auschwitz in a rage, igniting a blast that obliterates the monsters and the furnace they've been standing in. Human Torch: YOU DID THIS! You, who would claim to be masters of the world. This, THIS is why I am the way I am. Let this be a taste of eternity. So you will know Hell when you get there.

I'm glad they brought Jim back for the new Ultimates. We need more of the OG Human Torch in modern #MarvelComics.

The names have changed, but the Nazis are alive & far too comfortable in the light. They deserve your fire, Jim.
