I am a proud NDSU alumna. I graduated in 2005 with two bachelor’s degrees and years of experience on the student newspaper. My oldest brother and my dad also went to NDSU. It is a great smaller land grant university that prepared me for graduate school at the U of M Twin Cities campus.

Meet our judge for our soup, chili, and hotdish cook off! Shantel "Shorty" Volker served in the Army as a 92G culinary specialist. Kristy met Shorty in the 23rd Veteran Program on a canoe expedition in Florida.

I joined the St Therese senior living facility in Corcoran today for their Fall Fest. I talked with residents from Greenfield, Otsego, and Corcoran who were considering St Therese for their future home.

They have been overlooked in funding processes because they are part of a metro county, while in reality, they are rural communities. Kristy will be a strong partner to the cities in the district because she knows what it takes for local governments to deliver essential public services.

I stopped in at Fall Fest 2025 at Gale Woods Farm, a Three Rivers Park District property adjacent to District 37. Many families brought their children to see the farm animals, fiber crafts, food, and nature trails. They are also open tomorrow from 10 am to 4 pm

My friends and I went to Nightmare on the Crow, a haunted trail hosted by a Greenfield property owner. This is definitely an experience! Before our expedition, we ate at Big Bore BBQ in Hanover. A great way to spend a Friday!

I have learned several ways of self-care. I do four intense one-hour workouts a week, eat a healthy gluten free diet, do not drink any alcohol and minimal to no caffeine, and I see a therapist regularly. You can find what works for you and a pathway to heal.
