Donate to World Central Kitchen - Ramadan 2026 World Central Kitchen https://giving.classy.org/campaign/747092/donate

Ramadan has started, and the World Central Kitchen has a program to distribute food aid to people in Gaza. Each kit for Ramadan contains nearly 30 pounds of halalβ€”enough for up to 70 meals. If you have spare funds, please consider a donation of $60 to assist the people still struggling in Gaza.

getting really sick of my friends telling me the cursed blade is warping my mind. it's LITERALLY fine. i can stop fucking using it whenever i want. i think they're just jealous. like they know it'd corrupt them but i'm clearly stronger than its influence. in fact, i'm stronger than all of them...

I’m not saying I have it the worst by any means bc many people do Not have generational wealth at all. But there is a bitterness that curdles inside you when your parents could help. But they don’t. Bc they want you to know suffering. And they think that is helpful to you somehow

22.02.2026 07:04 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

My parents have the money to help financially support me! I’m like. Always in some degree of agony. But they make a point of making me support myself to teach me that life is hard. And go on two $10-20,000 cruises a year instead

What if u were putting insane amounts of wear + tear on ur body trying to keep up w constant dr visits and health issues and. X ray comes back and u have adult onset scoliosis + need MORE medical maintenance. + ur parents had the money to support u + Don’t. Bc they don’t want u β€œtoo comfortable”

You are SO fine. I wouldn’t even consider you late in your academic and career pursuits. Most ppl in their 20s (I find) don’t get everything out of college that they should + then don’t really hit the ground running till 30s anyway

My mother didn’t even begin to find a career she liked until age 30! Our close family friend is 50-something and finally discovered she really loves immigration law! She’s never had a career before bc she was raising her children

maybe i read into stuff w suspicion that need not exist, but the whole attribution of meat to masculinity and gathering to femininity has led to some bizarre shit

(Also sorry to come off as Um Actuallying if I do! Not intent. I just spend a lot of time in schools and simultaneously have a vested interest in protecting disabled students but also in cursive surviving from my own accessibility standpoint, so I think abt this a lot)

12.02.2026 17:31 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

I wouldn’t get /too/ scared on their behalf about cursive..? It’s important to introduce for accessibility reasons (ime), BUT more official regulations that protect accommodation should be passed along w curriculum requirements like this

12.02.2026 17:30 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

If it’s any solace, I have a fuck ton of public schools trauma, and I have been deeply comforted and am very hopeful about how much schools have independently stepped up to support disabled students. The ppl who are teachers now are ppl who also weathered the system that we did (ik this is a bit OT)

I want to take a moment to talk about the moment indie animation is having right now. I have been a part time indie creator my entire career, and am now the happiest I've ever been as an artist doing it full time.

I don't need to get into all the problems with our industry right now and why so many artists are going into this space. Creators like Dana Terrace and now Matt Braly are able to bring 'star power' to attract funding the likes of which a lot of us can only dream of.

And herein lies the paradox of independently created series. It relies on platforms like Kickstarter, social media, and Patreon to generate enough money to pay artists VERY LITTLE to make a couple people's dreams a reality. Indie runs very close to exploiting young artist's talents and passions in what is an incredible punk movement in our industry.

I want us to hold space for the sacrifices young artists are making for the sake of dreams, entertainment, art, and passion. The reason indie is having a moment right now is because a wave of artists are choosing hope. They're choosing the harder path because they have faith in the power of storytelling, and understand that if they want to participate they have to take that power back into their own hands. And oh boy is now more a time to do that than ever!

They're trippling down on learning how to operate a business, manage productions, explore unorthodox productin pipelines, and navigate a tumultuous industry that hasn't seen this much disruption in almost a century.

Now, I want you to keep holding space for these people because here's the thing. The industry is watching. Its seeing that people are able to compete with streaming beheamoths for a fraction of the money. And they are absolutely going to exploit this.

Whatever we do, we cannot let them do this. We cannot let tech companies and streaming giants swoop in and co-opt the sacrifices of our young artists, nor can we allow them to devalue the labor of animation, either. We must continue to organize and fight for a future where we can all create AND support ourselves financially. This isn't an either or, this is a yes and situation.

So for every person saying "indie is the future" - its on you to make that a reality. If you want to know how, shoot me a DM.

The great Rachel Gitlevich(a fellow UArts alumni and animation labor trailblazer) posted this on linkedin. There's a lot of inherent good about "going indie" but there's also just as many things that could go wrong. We cannot reproduce the harms of the studio system.

Like again I agree that (depending on teacher and school), this could be. Really bad for students w specific motor difficulties if a teacher isn’t empathetic

I see more schools now taking it upon themselves to be understanding (I teach in public schools!), but it should be systemically addressed

12.02.2026 17:18 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

That’s totally fair! I have the opposite experience w print, so I’m always in a spot where I think these things should be taught to students but that something really needs to be done about the inherent cookie-cutter ableism, so a student doesn’t fail if they try and cannot

Schools need to me more reasonable with accommodations and disability in the case that a student struggles w it, but there are actually accessibility benefits that cursive introduces!
(Like as someone with weird joints who almost exclusively writes in cursive)

12.02.2026 17:10 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

So I don’t think a politician would do this for the Right reasons, but there is a silver lining in that cursive genuinely does help to linger the amount of strain placed on wrists when handwriting, making carpal tunnel etc less likely!
It also is generally easier for ppl w dyslexia/graphia to use
