Why do so many cheer leaders who gut democracy? In short, what drives people to "go Nazi"?

According to the IDF, they will not only target any successor to the leader they assassinated, but anyone who even participates in appointing a successor. How to even describe this?

3. ... it's a battle over two very different political worlds. A world where there is a truth external to power -- one founded upon publicly accessible facts/data -- versus a world where only power matters. Where the truth is solely what the admin says it is. The latter = the death of democracy.

2. All these are obstacles to a world where the sole authoritative truth is decreed by the regime. The stakes go beyond the risible "alternative facts" of Trump 1. When Trump officials swear that there is no inflation or that Iran bombed itself or that protesters are really "domestic terrorists"...

US military intelligence: "we bombed the school." Trump: "It was done by Iran." To lump this under the fog of war is to miss how deeply this tracks the fascist economy of truth -- that what The Leader says is true and that alone. This is the heart of his war on higher ed, science, experts, polls. 🧵
