Climate progress is gaining irreversible momentum, say researchers - Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research Key elements of climate action are difficult to reverse. From policies and technologies to the stories we tell ourselves, we are putting climate progress on a path where there is no turning back.

Stories, laws and technology: Together, they lock-in progress on #ClimateAction. Our new article shows why recent gains may be more resilient than political turbulence suggests.

Read these words from 100 years ago about immigrants in Britain – and see how history is chillingly repeating itself | George Monbiot Shabana Mahmood’s new rights clampdown looks outlandish until we remember that this kind of hardline action is part of our country’s fabric, says George Monbiot

β€œβ€¦much of what appears to be novel [incl media fuelled justification for prejudice] has deep historical roots. If we fail to understand those roots and the soil in which they grow, we will fail to resist the assaults on our humanity.” www.theguardian.com/commentisfre... πŸ‘Œ @georgemonbiot.bsky.social

We face more pandemonium with war, climate & nature destruction, unregulated AI. Yet we are all human: we need safety, mutual aid, ethics of politics and care, shared responsibility, collective agency, equality of access to resources, time, respect & dignity; hope for future generations . 4/4

It is beyond regrettable that politics, when dominated by the rich and powerful, mitigates against collective resilience, as we saw happen through the Covid pandemic. 3/4

Ohhhh thank you for posting this. I was at my grandchildren’s UK village school today, helping them learn to read. Imagine this happening to us there, - a school full of beautiful little ones looking trustingly to life ahead, all snuffed out. It’s utterly unbearable, unconscionable, inhuman.

National Emergency Briefing A 45-min film centred around the National Emergency Briefing. Taking the message across the UK with the frank facts, but also the huge opportunity if Government steps up and leads a WW2-scale response...

Thank you to the nearly 1,000 people who've already registered to host a screening of the People's Emergency Briefing film in their community, and the many others who've done the same via our partners - and to the many organisations planning screenings.

Incredible momentum building. #NEB2025

Very evocative. This was my community, growing up, and is wonderfully illustrated in the wonderful Mining Art Gallery in Bishop Auckland.

This was horrible for my south Devon neighbours - should never have happened. Will shareholders cover the fine, & CEO bonuses be recouped & totally reined in for the future? Profiteering from basic life-support utilities is incomprehensible to ordinary mortals. www.theguardian.com/business/202...

Focused clear evidence based messaging, demanding clear principled leadership for survival in the face of the climate & nature emergency. Meanwhile, the current global leadership’s warmongering is a distraction from what matters most & is making our environment indescribably worse.

Thanks πŸ‘ @thenerve.news. In Case of Emergency audience members felt as if we were being addressed as jury. I was a post-performance conversation facilitator: one person said- β€œthe defendants were inviting us to be moral.” Indeed. And wonderfully, the actual jury did make a moral decision.

The majority of people in this country do not want us to be involved in this war.

Keir Starmer of a few years ago wouldn't have supported this war.

The only reason he does now is he will do anything Donald Trump wants - and it makes us all less safe.

Yes. And in clinical psychology we lost our pluralism with the rise & takeover of (follow the money) one particular brand of psychological practice - a specific type of individual therapy, all well & good in its way but shouldn’t have been allowed to dominate given the social determinants of health.
