As someone who has participated in clinical trials as a patient, this move is extremely reckless and unethical.

The country may be in crisis (yet again), but the garlic I planted in November is coming up and the songbirds are returning.

I can't emphasize enough how disastrous the NIH cuts will be. If implemented as proposed, it could decimate universities and college towns. And it could mean every one of us in the US and around the world will experience shorter and less healthy lives.

The bigger picture: A new era of on-campus immigration enforcement is no longer an abstraction. But with about 400,000 undocumented students enrolled in U.S. colleges, much remains unclear. A single arrest reported in a parking lot is not the same thing as frequent sweeps through the quad, no matter how much the loudest voices might want to equate the two.
