Something that sticks out to me from #Laracon has been the AI discussion. So many talks about AI, but they’ve seemed very measured and pragmatic. Feels fresh amongst the AI hype.

The days leading up to, during, and immediately after #Laracon are, to me, some of the most exciting of the year. Can’t wait to get to Denver!

I have both Hunter Greene and Paul Skenes on my fantasy baseball team. While I am no fan of Pittsburgh sports, I desperately want to see these two young guns battle it out in a tight, heated playoff race or series (Reds coming out on top, of course). It feels like we’re building towards that.

In the course of building an app you run into a situation where you have to deal with roles and permissions. I’m there now and just like the last time, it is an obnoxious pain.

A person can’t know everything, but the true sign of a great leader is accepting that truth. Continue to learn as much as you can. Learn what it is that your team members are experts at. Learn what your blind spots are. Eventually you grow into a new level of leadership where the process repeats.

It is easy to allow that expertise and the accolades of affords to mutate into arrogance. Perhaps even naturally so. However, in your position as a leader you have to humble yourself and acknowledge that you don’t know everything.

Ostensibly, you’ve been a relative high performer. You’ve communicated your value effectively to leadership in such a way that they trust your judgment and ability to make decisions. But in that way, you’ve likely been an expert in your space and know all the fine grained details.

I’ve been in my role as a manager for a few years now. Even if my role may fall in the “lower to middle” range, I feel like I’ve learned a few things. I think one of the most important things that I’ve learned is that the most important trait for a leader is humility.

Really enjoy both of those apps, Things especially. I also really enjoy Obsidian for note taking. Spark has been my mail client of choice for the longest time. I’m going to give Mail another go, but I do agree with your assessment that it is limited by a lack of customization.

I’ve been attempting to use the default apps in iOS more this year. So far I’ve been pleased with the change to Reminders and Notes. Mail on the other hand… I just can’t quite love you…

Baseball players might be some of the wittiest athletes. Sure there was Stengelese and Yogisms, but there are many more quips about a pitch “sounding a bit outside” and how best to “catch a knuckleball.”

Security at ballparks was shit. You can see people climbing on adjacent structures, fans standing in the outfield, and you don’t see a single major event that didn’t result in players running for the clubhouse as fans poured onto the field.
