Had a panic dream at 4am that I missed my web accessibility specialist exam tomorrow because I got hyperfocused on a task and lost track of time 🤦🏻♀️
This is why I get stuck in waiting mode instead 🙄
Ooh exciting! I loved the first season so happy to hear there’ll be more!
27.05.2025 11:23 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0I literally just got back from returning some library books on my lunch break and the library messages me to say my reservation is ready.
I was just there 15 minutes ago 😭
Thanks!

09.05.2025 16:28 — 👍 9 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0I’m trying to book at a center. I understand that bottles should be clear so people don’t smuggle in things to cheat but it seems a bit much to need to request it. And I need to know bathroom breaks are allowed as otherwise I will get major anxiety. But I don’t know why they must phone me to book
07.05.2025 06:22 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 2 📌 0Same although I’m not convinced I can last that long without water or a toilet break 😬 and I’d quite like to pass the exam. I don’t know why they have to make the whole process so stressful 😥
06.05.2025 19:46 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Trying to book an exam: if you need accommodations we will ring you to schedule your exam (even having a water bottle is an accommodation)
Me: 😭😭😭 weighs life choices and which is worse - 3 hours without water/toilet break or having to make a phone call 😭😭😭

Are CSS Carousels accessible sarasoueidan.com/blog/css-car...
In this post, I share some important insights from examining the accessibility of CSS-only carousels that use new features introduced in the #CSS Overflow Module Level 5 spec.

Very true! I wish I had more say in that but I’m auditing a site that’s already built. I can always make the recommendation though
06.05.2025 11:35 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0It’s amazing how differently different browsers and screen reader combinations can behave.
I was testing some custom checkboxes in a form and they behaved wildly differently with Chrome + VO, safari + VO and Firefox + NVDA.
Remember to check as many browsers as possible, not everyone uses Chrome
Thanks ☺️

The web accessibility specialist courses from Deque are really thorough but all the “must, should, may” language is super confusing. Just tell me the WCAG level instead 😬

17.04.2025 16:38 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0My biggest takeaway from JSDay conference last week came from a 5 minute lightning talk.
You are not your user. Be a user advocate.
I like the term user advocate. I feel like it describes perfectly what I try to do.
Just be a fair weather gardener 👨🌾 I stay inside with a good book when the weather is bad
12.04.2025 17:03 — 👍 3 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0True! Back, thighs, arms usually all end up hurting after a few hours in the garden 😅
12.04.2025 15:00 — 👍 3 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Having a garden is a fun side project. I find weeding is quite therapeutic 🌱
12.04.2025 14:57 — 👍 3 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0It’s not a keyboard trap if you can tab past it but something like a skip link at the beginning of it could be helpful
08.04.2025 08:13 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0I put something somewhere safe but it was obviously so safe even I can’t remember where I put it 😬
30.03.2025 10:15 — 👍 3 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0I was on a podcast talking to Tim Damen about accessibility. I can definitely recommend listening to all the other episodes in the series too! www.linkedin.com/posts/focusr...
20.03.2025 15:33 — 👍 3 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0I think this is half the problem. Every time I install something the instructions include some sort of add $PATH to zrhrc or bashrc and all the different repos conflict with each other and cause me a headache. Plus that I don’t really know what all the setup commands do, it’s just chaos
19.03.2025 21:00 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Yeah, that’s terrible. People shouldn’t have to pay extra for something to be accessible. That’s like adding a disability tax
19.03.2025 20:51 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0It’s very odd! Today after trying to install a react native project it couldn’t find a path for any emulator even though I had one running and then my terminal decided that even node -v was no longer a command it recognised 🤷🏻♀️
19.03.2025 17:04 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0MacOS. I’ve never had problems before and several people in my team run into similar issues so I think it’s something weird with how our customer has things set up
