Twelve finalists for the Young People's Symphony Concert Association Concerto Competition played Feb. 2 on the Orchestra Hall Stage. The finalists were chosen from a record pool of 42 applicants from the five-state area of Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa and the Dakotas.

First prize went to pianist and Wayzata High School ninth-grader Harold Fang from Plymouth, who performed Grieg's Piano Concerto in A minor.
