Spent so long staring at this wondering if Poo is nonbinary.

I'm circling the drain on a point many have stated before me, but still, asking these questions about a character is a process I highly encourage. For anything you read or write, not just XIV, though something like XIV where you're given flexible boundaries is a great starting point.

(There are many reasons to love the DRK quests beyond the WoL's part in it, but they are definitely the key role.)
It wraps around to this question: why does this person agree to become the Warrior of Light? And why, after everything, do they still hold that title?

And it's honestly a brilliant approach. Frustrations come from many places; they're certainly never one clean/logical cause and effect. Little annoyances, huge missteps, regrets, all piling ever higher. The DRK quest provides the pieces and tells you to figure out where exactly a WoL's baggage lies.

They're plague by sorrow for those they've lost and annoyance towards endless fetch quests. It's different from the sort of prescribed emotional responses a WoL "should" have at big MSQ events. They don't stoically march on, they're upset and emotionally lash out. The erupting sum of grievances.

Fundamentally this a huge reason why the DRK questline is so popular, I'd argue. It's one of the few times in the game where the WoL is given extremely clear and direct characterization beyond "adventurer". They *are* frustrated by their lack of agency, they *do* feel guilt about those they've hurt.

A huge part of what informs a given WoL's characterization is how they reconcile that. They could be loving, flippant, a prick, quiet, whatever. But their motivations and reactions to what they immutably *must* do are where players are encouraged to fill in the blanks, a process I find quite fun.

XIV's story neccessitates a protagonist who's both
A) endlessly self-sacrificing
B) able to live with death, including ones they cause
That's genuinely a huge ask! You can dress it up however you want but each is an extremely difficult trait for anyone to consistently follow, let alone in tandem.

Had some FFXIV brainworms. The first chapter was a short stand alone thing I made last year, the last two I wrote over the last day and a half. Decided to compile them. Different from how I usually write, kinda rough but fun to do.

I played all of Z-A on Switch 1 with no issue fwiw. It'll prob be worth for more folks eventually (I wanna get one soonish) but you can def still stick with 1 for now if you don't have a burning desire for DK or Air Riders.

Yes and you miscalculated. What matters is you saying that you misused money that was given to you and promising in no uncertain terms/with no jokes attached that you aren't gonna give money to someone like this ever again. I'm not trying to be rude, rather I really just want the point to be clear.

Dude, saying things like "gonna think twice" and "LOL" in this really just feels like you treating this as a joke. This was stupid and you can't just go "well haha I gave my fans' money to Hitler nbd". A genuine, full-chested statement of just saying you were wrong (no jokes/bits) would be better.

I see what you're saying but this does still boil down to "gave $90 to Hitler". Generally I agree making fun of these people is good, but I don't think this video moves the needle at all. That's money (which I and others have given) that could've gone anywhere else. Please don't do this idea again.

Not a Half-Life head so some of the nuance here goes over my head, but I still love this so much. You always do such a good job with expressions and fun scenes.

I enjoyed Victory a great deal in many ways, but it's definitely one that's taken me more time to parse my thoughts on compared to all the Gundam shows I've watched up to now (up through AW Gundam X plus Gquuuuuux).

Higurashi is of course by the same author and is incredible, though I think you'd also like The House in Fata Morgana a lot. And I mean a *lot*.
