I constantly see newer writers assuming that a critique has to be "brutal" or "ruthless" to be effective. The pros know the opposite is true: a critique has to be HONEST to be effective, and sometimes the truth is...pretty nice actually?

They won't buy your story if there's nothing good about it.

Missouri friends, this inclusive bookstore and coffee shop in Maryville is in its final days of fundraising and has just under $4000 to reach its goal, I think it would be great to see this get funded! There are some cool queer books up for rewards as well as bookmarks, stickers, totes, and mugs!

just saw someone sincerely arguing that they need AI bc they don't have "natural" artistic talent and idk how to make you understand that nobody comes by this shit naturally. it's just...work. it's being bad at it for a really, really, really long time. it's intention, pursued over time! wtf!!!
