We recently dusted off an old incomplete feature, fixed, and finished it, when touching the GS in our dev environment.

Dynamic Plates allows the server to set and change nameplate rank info and color instead of it being hardcoded in the client.

We immediately started seeing what it could do lol.

Now, as a grown adult, I'm witnessing restrictions being put in place all around me. I do not trust services with my personally identifiable information, no one should, so that isn't a solution. Just look at Tea as an example of the vast amount of data leaks that regularly occur. Fuck off.

My parents were very hands-off when it came to my Internet usage that started from a young age, and I've witnessed much of the same with my younger siblings. It shouldn't have been that way, and I can only imagine how much worse it's gotten over time as things have become more accessible.

Why parent your child when you can make the government do a half-assed job of an impossible task for you? "Protecting the children" is always a convenient excuse to shed responsibility for a lack of control and engagement.

If games and media with NSFW themes continue to be restricted, I'm just going to sail the seven seas for it. Plain and simple. Either I continue to support artists and developers that deserve it, or I use the vast amount of other resources available to consume it. It's a losing battle.

Undertale is a clear demonstration that you do not need the best graphics, overly-complicated gameplay, a lot of money, or a large team to make a good and impactful game.

Tried jailbreaking my Mom's new Kindle, figured it'd be simple given it shipped with 5.17.x which is exploitable. But APPARENTLY Amazon saves network credentials to the account via a buried "Frustration-Free Setup" toggle and automatically connected to the Internet which triggered an update. Lame...

Generative Al is being marketed as a tool designed to reduce or eliminate the need for developed, cognitive skillsets. It uses the work of others to simulate human output, except that it lacks grasp of nuance, contains grievous errors, and ultimately serves the goal of human beings being neurologically weaker due to the promise of the machine being better equipped than the humans using it would ever exert the effort to be. The people that use generative Al for art have no interest in being an artist; they simply want product to consume and forget about when the next piece of product goes by their eyes. The people that use generative Al to make music have no interest in being a musician; they simply want a machine to make them something to listen to until they get bored and want the machine to make some other disposable slop for them to pass the time with. The people that use generative Al to write things for them have no interest in writing. The people that use generative Al to find factoids have no interest in actual facts. The people that use generative Al to socialize have no interest in actual socialization. In every case, they've handed over the cognitive load of developing a necessary, creative human skillset to a machine that promises to ease the sweat equity cost of struggle. Using generative Al is like asking a machine to lift weights on your behalf and then calling yourself a bodybuilder when it's done with the reps. You build nothing in terms of muscle, you are not stronger, you are not faster, you are not in better shape. You're just deluding yourself while experiencing a slow decline due to self-inflicted atrophy.
