syrine's dwelling nature contrasts with esmée's starfaring yet she is bound to partings and grief the same way

butterflies are incredibly short lived, which is asronomically fitting from the perspective of a very ancient being who witnessed everything and everyone around her disappear. no company is more faithful to her than memoria and melancholy.

i am in syrine brainrotting mood... i think i've never explained why butterflies were so ever important in her motifs. there are a handful of reasons, but one is to symbolize the eternal short cycle of life and the mourning memories it leaves behind

Worked on some worldbuilding art yesterday for my Yinshin species (and the world where Ébène lives).
A fish that transports you from a Reflection portal to another via the World Reflection. It takes about 30 minutes to reach the most distant portal this way.

Artwork depicts an alolan ninetales from Pokemon looking directly at the viewer with gleaming blue eyes. Snow and wind whip through the forest, causing tall drifts to form along the marked mountain path. Created on tea stained illustration board with acrylic, color pencil, and gel pen. 2016.

The alolan ninetales dwells on sacred peaks perpetually covered in snow. Said to appear to virtuous people who have lost their way on mountain paths—it then guides them back down to the mountain's base.
