Some Doulas provide direct support to the dying and their loved ones by advocating, providing personal care, comfort, respite and more. Some help facilitate end of life planning , legacy , creation, grief support, and death education. Each Doula has a unique approach to their practice.

They have stopped trying to prolong life, and are focusing on the labour of dying. Hospice care can be provided at home, hospital, long term care or in a Hospice centre/home . The caregivers are trained in end of life care. The scope of care provided and prescribed medications may change.
