Not to mention most artists don't hit their stride in their careers until at least mid 30s.

The idea of artists peaking at 30 is ✨ridiculous✨ and clearly stems from nervous, burnt out 20yo's cause anyone older knows that artists only get better with time, experience and practice. Every single great master in history is way over 40 when they finally become renowned.

Same!! Perfectionism is so hard to fight and it makes me art blocked constantly, so one of my best ways to get out of it is to doodle extremely self indulgent art badly in my sketchbook and show no one haha 😂 atm it’s Naruto fanart cause that was my OG fandom, and other times it’s OCs or ships

For having more fun (a constant challenge) is to keep experimenting and keeping things fresh, also staying in touch with the things that made you start drawing in the first place! Falling in love with the process, one that’s unique to you, helps with work stuff when you can’t do personal art

I love to talk tips! The anatomy is a combo of those japanese anatomy break down tutorials, and then from life/photos. Life drawing is the best but not super accessible for some people, so collecting photos of athletes and people with dif body types on pinterest is great cause they’re in dif poses.

I miss OG dA so much, the community there used to be so robust and it was so easy to find the art you like. I wistfully miss art memes and OCTs so much, they were such a great way to engage and have fun with art friends. The old school dA UI is seriously under-rated and let us do so many fun things!

I feel like it needs to be shared that one of my big motivators for posting online is that whenever I share doodles to my bestie, she is being oh so supportive while holding a bat saying "ok now post it."
