UPDATE: I wasn’t selected to serve on the panel. At least I had a chance to catch up with some of my friends who worked at the courthouse. Overall, not a bad way to spend a Monday.

Aaaaaaand jury duty time. 😅

Barely two weeks in and my continued employment is suddenly uncertain. I remain undeterred. My spite grows with each email.

Since I no longer had a reason to leave town, I spent the next 24 hours either in an airplane or at an airport desperately trying to get back home. 0/5 - would not do again.

I got settled into my airplane seat. I was nervous for my hearing, but excited to get some experience. Then, my phone buzzed. It’s a PACER notification? “The Court, on its own motion, continues the hearing date.“ The feeling of dread sunk in as I heard: “ladies and gentlemen, prepare for takeoff.”

On the first day of Christmas, the Court gave to me a favorable judgment. But actually tho.

Time to celebrate! 🎉 🥂

I thank the stars that I commute to work on the metro, rather than driving. The years of driving to school and then work were giving me hypertension. At least now I can sit down and then fester until I get to my stop.

Today, I beat the Elden Ring base game story line. And here I thought I’d be doomed to lose to Maliketh forever.

My area of practice doesn’t involve family law, but I like keeping tabs on more prominent appellate cases since: (1) their facts are nifty; and (2) their outcomes will likely affect folks close to me in important ways.

One of the cases I’m tracking at the Supreme Court of Maryland is No. 34 In the Matter of the Marriage of Houser, which involves the issue of whether a court can order a parent to pay child support, despite both parents agreeing to waive the child support obligation. 👀

It was gonna have to be either this song or Friday Night Plans’ cover of Plastic Love. 🫣

I’m not saying that I intentionally had Sabrina Carpenter’s “Santa doesn’t know you like I do” as my top song on my Spotify Wrapped just so I could manifest A Nonsense Christmas into existence. 👀

Today, I began my Elden Ring journey. I’m hooked and will likely be unable to rest until I beat the game. 👀

PSA: You’re allowed to relax and breathe in law school. Contrary to unhealthy beliefs, rest isn’t a “luxury” or “lazy.” Embrace peace. Recharge. It’ll keep you from burning out.

The "bluesky is an echo chamber" think pieces that keep popping up really tickle me because they show how certain people genuinely believe social media should be for debating and arguing and not talking about the things that make you happy and sharing art with the world.

The urge to just go to the club and do a wiggle to Sabrina Carpenter.

I need to get my life together and catch up with Arcane Season 2. The first season was a masterpiece. 😭
