Hey! The Trump administration put out an executive order yesterday seeking to bend the U.S. response to homelessness away from "Housing First" and toward more involuntary civil commitment.
It turns out my colleagues and I have done a bunch of reporting on this for @kuow.org and can catch you up...

Congress has cut federal funding for public media, putting your access to local news and programming at risk. This is the moment to join our community of supporters. Youβve depended on KUOW and NPR across the decades. Today, weβre counting on you. bit.ly/3UgOIc9

Hello just wanted to say:
Public media is a useful public good. It is a source of great local news at a time when local news is being decimated. Also, in my 10 years in public media, I can say people who work here do it because they believe in the mission of informing people.
Just noting.

I liked it but definitely did not love it. I think about 1/3 could've been cut and was happy to be done with it when I finished π
I'm here for a film adaptation, though!

Here's what Seattle readers are into so far this year
I'm just about to finish reading my 40th book this year, yet nothing makes me freeze quite like being asked: "Have you read [insert popular book here]?"
Hot take alert: "I think the books that people read on light rails aren't actually what they're reading." Elliott Bay Book Company's Sofia Brekkan calls y'all out on today's episode of Meet Me Here from @kuow.org π

So stoked that I got to talk to the author of one of my favorite books for @kuow.org's Meet Me Here! Sequoia Nagamatsu's "How High We Go in the Dark" is a masterpiece. We talked about the things that inspire him and how writers often don't read as much as they say they do π
