3) The defensiveness, and dismissal of people who don't accept the climate "hopium", which I do think she is a part of pushing, is an even more demotivating to people.
We need to keep pushing for solutions, but as we do so, please stop telling people how they have to feel about the climate crisis.

2) There is a huge amount of moralizing against climate despair. I understand that complete hopelessness is not helpful, but I find it dishonest and demotivating to shame people for sharing their feelings of the overwhelming difficulty and failure so far of climate activism.

1) I'm not accusing her of denial about that subject. Obviously, she can't work on it and be in denial about it.
What I'm objecting to is her declaration that "giving up is the only thing that will guarantee our failure," and statements like "I know we can do it together."

Katharine, there are many things that will guarantee our failure when it comes to climate.
Being in denial about the severity of the crisis is one of them.

I don't think it's helpful to pressure people into being positive about the mess.
There are many ways people engage. Don't push 🙂 on people.
