This is why I used to drill students on the difference between “preemptive” and “preventive” attack. Unless Israel had intelligence that an attack from Iran was imminent, this was not a preemptive attack.

Iran had agreed to stop stockpiling enriched uranium. But America and Israel are going to war with Iran anyway.
This was never about nuclear weapons or uranium. This was about Israel and American war hawks wanting a war with Iran.
The U.S. and Israel started bombing Iran over an hour ago and it looks like the Washington Post still hasn’t published anything on it, which seems very weird.
Maybe they just fired way too many people to have a nights and weekends crew ready for this.
The United States and Israel launched a joint strike against Iran, an act of war without Congressional approval. This is a crime against the American people.
Trump is working with a genocidal regime to start another bloody war in the Middle East. Congress must vote to block further strikes now
In the past 48 hours, Israel has carried out airstrikes in Gaza, southern Lebanon, and Iran.
Strikes across multiple territories without consent breach international law and the UN Charter.
We now await condemnations from states that claim to uphold, defend, and be guided by the rule of law.
By the time he’s done, I’ll bet that at least a quarter of the national debt will just be money he stole.

Gen Z, Alysa Liu, wins gold 🏅 for USA with a happy-go-lucky performance.
Somehow she tunes out the world burning. Isn't bothered by being on the most competitive stage in the world.
Simply loses herself in her love 🤍 of skating.
FLOW. ⛸️
🇺🇸 Alysa Liu just became the first American woman to win an individual Olympic medal in figure skating in 20 years — and the first to take gold in the event since 2002. Here is how she did it. www.nytimes.com/2026/02/19/w...

Alysa Liu: “That’s what I’m fucking talking about!”
After her flawless freeskate wins Olympic Gold!
Alysa Liu is everything good about our country. She's the child of a Chinese immigrant who was exiled for protesting for democracy in Tiananmen Square. She's young and the best in the world and full of joy.
I can't root for my country right now, but I sure as hell am cheering for her.
“When Liu, 20, decided to return to skating, she did so with conditions. She’d wear what she wants. Dance to the music she wants. Eat what she wants. Take breaks when she wants…. [Skating] would be the vehicle through which she displayed the real Alysa.”
she did it! her! way!!
Alysa Liu skating to Donna Summer's 1978 "MacArthur Park Suite" was sheer perfection, not least because Liu and Summer are world-class talents, but also because the titular MacArthur Park in Los Angeles was the site of a widely publicized ICE/CBP raid last summer.

It was never a competition for her, but a canvas. A mindset we all need now more than ever.
