Most notably Roc's arena is visible on the right side of the screen in the one at the event as the player is riding down to Snake's arena from E5.

For those of you who don't know. The "TGS 2004" trailer included in the NICO DVD is actually a later revision with a few shots changed. Thankfully IGN recorded the TGS screen.
I have a video showing the two side-by-side.

I've purchased a copy of ファミ通WaveDVD's DVD from December 2004, which covers TGS2004 including SOTC. Hopefully it has the original early version of the trailer shown at the event rather than the one from the NICO DVD.
06.03.2026 23:58 — 👍 4 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Okay looking at an early leaked picture of Roc's stage they actually did kind of do this, the crater used to be way deeper and the tower was on a really steep hill in the center.
05.03.2026 23:51 — 👍 5 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0I must admit part of me is a little confused why they didn't compromise by simplifying the field to be flat, even if it's a lot less interesting than an impact crater. Maybe Roc had some other issues we don't know about.

If you had to separate the rejected bosses into either "Not fun" or "Technical issues" Roc would easily be in the latter category. The video we have of it shows it clipping.
This isn't to mention having it land after being shot in the weak point.
I think it's easy to overlook how hard of a technical problem Roc's specification is to implement, even with today's hardware.
The boss needs to be able to dynamically swoop down at an arbitrary point on an inverted hemisphere (with a tower in the center and debris) and not clip into the ground.
I actually didn’t realise I was out of Shin Ramyun Black but thankfully I had a spicy chicken version leftover.

Portal 2 still has got to be one of, if not the, funniest scripts ever written for a piece of media. Genuinely a masterpiece of writing.
Am kinda sad they toned down the ChellDOS moments from the beta though ;;
On the album this track is called 記憶 or "Memories", although in the game files it is known as "save_point_05". This track would've been the "Heal" (ICO save theme) of #ShadowoftheColossus.
04.03.2026 23:20 — 👍 11 🔁 3 💬 0 📌 0It's very niche knowledge, might actually be the most niche thing I've shared on this platform.
04.03.2026 23:07 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Early in development SOTC used music from 太陽の王子 ホルスの大冒険 as a placeholder. A sad song was used as the End of Battle theme.
04.03.2026 23:05 — 👍 6 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Earliest scan of the magazine on wiki is 2019 so presumably that's when the community first learned of it. Digital images were uploaded 2021 so presumably it was sent then. I'm not sure what issue this is from but I would assume its 2005/2006. So about 15 years.

The only reason we have a digital version of the Phoenix image is because fans managed to get in contact with the publisher of a French magazine (Chronic'art) that still had the files they were provided.
Unfortunately I find it unlikely Famitsu or Enterbrain would be willing to share.
This is why we need digital versions of images. The print is too small to get a good look at Wander's design (mainly his legs), which would answer the question instantly.
04.03.2026 22:42 — 👍 2 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0I just find it weird that if the tentacle-wielding spider design truly is supposed to be earlier (like my colleagues believe) it would have been used alongside a photo of Phoenix from late 2004, right before the reduction.
04.03.2026 22:42 — 👍 5 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Got stuck for a while there but finally got direct color images working. Now for the tricky part which involves handling CLUT data.

shadow of the colossus makes me happy
researching it makes me happy
Very early in NICO's development the player would lose grip on the boss if Wander's "pendulum angle" exceeded a certain threshold, so bosses could essentially force you off with specific animations and also send you flying.
(This clip from the production reel might be showing it off)
ICO: Most people don't know it started with a stamina system and it was eventually dropped.
SOTC: Most people don't know it didn't start with a stamina system and it was eventually added later.
My love for ICO and SOTC has got me to start learning openGL ahaha
Goal for now is to get ICO tm2's rendering with proper CLUT animation. Then I'd like to add a userspace editor so people can make and edit their own ICO TM2s :D
Devil being cut robbed us of some of the coolest cosplays of all time.

Evis (Final) concept art.
Unknown design. (Might be an early Worm design because I can't think of anything else it could be)
This box art has a bunch of otherwise unseen concept art, mainly for SOTC. (It also actually has some early TLG art too)
