I’m in the UK right now but meant to share this time-lapse of work on the monster! It’s twice the size of the next biggest piece I’ve ever felted but it’s a great challenge and I’m looking forward to getting back to it when I return to the studio.

I'm going to be working on the monster for a while so to avoid me boring you posting endless WIP updates I thought I'd share this: My latest finished piece at the beginning middle and end. I built up the polypore using felt scraps I had lying around, hence the purple!

Yes! Not too bad so far… but after 3 is when it starts really heating up.

I finished and framed this piece today! I’m happy to have completed so I can move back to my absolutely giant felt that’s been on the back burner for a while. Updates to follow!

Progress so far on this needle felt. I've done most of the bark and the background but still need to include lots more moss and I need to do more work on the fungi too... Still liking it so far. My first time doing this kind of fungi.

..then the wool will have the same UV reactive properties. Hence the idea of this piece was born! All the wool has been naturally dyed and the wool for the fungi was dyed with UV reactive fungi so if you shine a UV on this piece the fungi will glow. Nature is magical! #Stunday #smArtist #ArtYear

This piece is special… there’s a story behind it. I went on a #fungi foraging foray in Pacific Spirit park a couple of years ago (which is where I took the pic this piece is based on). The instructor told me lots of fungi react to UV light and if you use some kinds of UV reactive fungi to dye wool..
