Worth checking out Algernon Newton's work if you like Hopper. More focused on places and buildings, as with some other Hopper works, and have that sense of stillness and mystery.

A great piece of art IMO. Like many of his other works, there is always a story that you can create around it, and for me at least that feeling of unease of what's not shown around what we see.

This is a huge political mistake in terms of optics notwithstanding the ill-judged motives behind it.

What a brilliant Proms concert that was from last night on BBC4 this evening. Pacho Flores was simply amazing in the Concierto de otoño, the opening two pieces were fantastic and then a second half of Dvorak 9th. Great playing by Royal Liverpool Philharmonic under Domingo Hindoyan.

Stephen Moore was telling Radio 4 Today listeners in the UK yesterday how wonderfully well the American economy was going under Trump. Looks like those "fake" jobs figures bear out his optimism. Perhaps he needs to alter the projected trajectory on the cover of his book.

That every now and again is increasingly less frequent. I agree he's a contrarian but within that there's sense and stupidity and he's crossed that line so many times now, it's just the norm. So best ignored.

RIP Allan Ahlberg. Is there a better children's book than this with its characters, wit and wonderful cadence along Janet's superb illustrations. I still read it on occasion now for the sheer joy and feel it brings.
