The Christmas Island Shrew, Australia’s only native shrew & one of Re:wild’s most wanted lost small mammals, has been declared Extinct. The shrew had only been documented 4 times during the past 120 years.

🗣️ “I smell a threadsnake,” Springer joked... then found one. 👀

🐍 The world’s smallest snake — just 3–4 inches long — has been rediscovered in Barbados after being lost to science for nearly 20 years! 📏🇧🇧

It’s called the Barbados Threadsnake, and it had only been seen a handful of times before.

(4/7)Meanwhile, in southern Africa’s Okavango River Basin, Canadian company ReconAfrica is exploring for oil and gas. The company stored potentially toxic wastewater from one of its exploratory wells in unlined drill pits.
