Nothing gentrifies like an Artist.

And once it's in motion, they get kicked out. Glasgow was once, not long ago, an international centre of contemporary art.

Now venues are being shut down, or arts orgs priced out by the council's own 'arms reach' development company.

That seems to be Creative Scotland's remit. They did the same while the CMI did the same to Filmhouse in Edinburgh and Belmont in Aberdeen.

Nobody hates Glasgow like Glasgow City Council.

This was from a Yougov chat thing. Unreal. Do people actually want to stop thinking for themselves?

We're being drip-fed christofascism, to serve the Farage/MAGA agenda.

β€˜Cultural vandalism’: major arts hub kicked out by council’s property company Tenants like Glasgow Print Studio and Glasgow Media Access Centre have less than 28 days to leave Trongate 103

Once upon a time, Glasgow used to value its internationally renowned and culturally vibrant arts scene.

Now they evict grassroots orgs refusing to pay a 4X rent hike in a building established to give a home and support to small arts spaces.

No one hates Glasgow more than Glasgow City Council

Passion for bunker sci-fi, you say?

Here's my bunker sci-fi from 2020 if you have a spare 35 minutes:

Another reminder that Streeting is a careet politician who has never worked in Healthcare.

Since when has it been the NHS's responsibility to get people into jobs, of which there is increasingly less?

Its clear they only see us as worker drones.

If you restrict university courses only to those that serve the "job market," you might as well abolish university. Especially if you’re a politician who hates people being taught to think, in case they think too hard about what you’re up to. Ignorance lubricates submission.

You'd think after all these years Microsoft Word would not be an utterly unusuable pile of garbage that goes to shit as soon as you drop in an image or try to vary the formatting.

So why do I feel so angry about this whole AI thing? Some notes on the bullshit maximiser.

It’s on Google, even though it is making search worse. It’s on WhatsApp, even though I absolutely do not want β€œhomework help” or β€œrelationship advice” from my messaging app. In the year of our lord 2026, it is everywhere.

And it *doesn’t work*.

Glasgow old-stuff nerds: did you know NLS had put Sulman's 1864 Bird's-Eye View online? Not as colourful as the GCHT version, but faster to load and scroll.

Just seen that β€œAI is punk” take and… gosh. Was not aware that β€œcounter-culture” in 2026 meant participating in a trillion dollar industry pushed by the world’s most valuable companies and the world’s most powerful nation.

Some wee tweaks to make, and I need to sign it, but Billy is essentially finished.

And to this day Piers Morgan is still paid big bucks, given television shows, paraded around the TV studios.

Tell me that billionaire tabloid media are not a huge part of the black heart of evil corruption in this country.

And some wonder how the Epstien scandal was allowed to happen.

I regularly see people wondering how it's possible that there are so many musicians and writers and film makers and artists from a tiny nation like Iceland.

And the answer is really simple: State funding for art education and artists. I literally get a salary from the government to write books.

THE β€˜BURBS was released 37 years ago today. A Tom Hanks/Joe Dante collaboration that has earned β€˜cult classic’ status over the years, the story of how it came to be is as out there as the Klopek family…

Second change: invest in education and the creative industries. These are a far better bet than steel or fish.

Third change: get the authoritarian shit off the books. In a world where people want stable, just democracies, be the island they flock to.

Living under capitalism is like being forced to play a board game you dislike where the rules are boring, unfair and nonsensical but which the winners, who started with an advantage, keep explaining are excellent, and if you try improve the game you’re β€œcheating” but if you stop playing you’ll die
