So, having given it some (maybe too much) thought, it is farewell (at least for now).

@tammy-w.bsky.social
Living on Ngunnawal Country (Canberra), Australia, interested in social policy, health policy, politics and my community. Love music and dancing (mostly blues), movies and hot summer days (and nights).
So, having given it some (maybe too much) thought, it is farewell (at least for now).

The final straw came with @kudelka.bsky.social - someone with a zillion followers - who mockingly reposted me (and lots of others with similar views, too), called me a delusional cult member when I objected and then blocked me.
A great talent but a small mind - what a nasty person he is!
/4
What Iβve encountered here, though, is a lot of intolerance and some just plain meanness. Iβve been insulted and blocked for holding marginally different views to others (no, I will not vote for an indie in the Reps without transparency on minority govt support, and Greens have disappointed).
/3
I donβt agree with everyone, nor do I expect everyone to agree with me. I enjoy banter and debate and am always interested in, and curious to hear about, othersβ views, even if they donβt align with mine.

Not sure yet whether this will be a break or departure from @bluesky - feeling very disillusioned right now.
Thought this would be a great platform to express myself on #auspol and social/health policy, and have reconnected with many from X, and found others to follow and who have followed me.

Maybe theyβll learn from that and elect a new leader who will change that direction, negotiate constructively and win amendments to improve legislation.
11.05.2025 00:37 β π 2 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0Hartcher wants Marles to be as effective a Defence Minister as he is a hatchet man.
Suspect his talent is building and wielding his own - not national - power!

There seems to be an internal contradiction in accusing a person critical of a political party you believe in of being deluded and belonging to a cult?
10.05.2025 12:28 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Mmm, mock if you like, but Iβm hardly an outlier.
10.05.2025 11:35 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I think all the big GetUp donors shifted their support - and $$$ - to Climate200
10.05.2025 06:23 β π 2 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0Exactly the problem with the parliamentary lot. Anyone doesn't agree with them is wrong. Haven't progressed from protest group to political party.
10.05.2025 06:00 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I'm always open to political debate, but never from a starting position of being called ignorant.
10.05.2025 05:43 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0True. The Greens federally seem to have decided to compete with Labor and put the perfect in the way of the good. Their decision on who will lead them from here will tell us which way they mean to go.
10.05.2025 05:25 β π 9 π 1 π¬ 5 π 1#Auspol With the Greens being required to pass Legislation ( unless Labor do deals with the Coalition ). Labor and the Greens should work very hard at passing Legislation with little Drama. Thr Greens have a chance to rebuild confidence in them if they are seen to respect Labors mandate.
10.05.2025 04:46 β π 157 π 24 π¬ 36 π 3The Greens may need to first accept that their obstructionism in the last term cost them seats!

Starmerβs βnothingβ deal with Trump is a warning sign for Albanese
This is a list of concessions more than a trade deal, and one in which the UK is still subject to billions worth of tariffs that didnβt exist last year.

Marles is all about building his power base. If positions were decided on talent, rather than numbers, perhaps heβd be for the chopping block, instead of Dreyfus and Husic.

Price believes sheβs going to save the Liberal Party. Clearly doesnβt get that her divisive, combative and right wing politics were part of the problem.
The Libs ignored the 2022 election postmortem. With Price taking a leadership role, will they do the same in 2025?

There was an interesting piece in @aunz.theconversation.com recently, if you can find it, highlighting the seats in the last election where informal votes exceeded the winning margin, and the reasons why. Only a small proportion were deliberate.

06.05.2025 06:59 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The Greens were elected to negotiate better outcomes. Instead, they obstructed until the 11th hour and then let everything through.
Yet, they still want to blame preferences (in a preferential voting system).

I hadnβt heard that. I donβt think heβll be visiting us for a while!!!
06.05.2025 06:49 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Canβt believe Iβm saying this, but the Greens should take a leaf out of Peter Duttonβs book and show some dignity in defeat. Whining about preferential voting - a cornerstone of fair representation in Australia - because it's not going their way, is a very bad look. #auspol
05.05.2025 10:30 β π 5 π 2 π¬ 4 π 0The stories are emerging. The Age/SMH ran a lengthy and detailed βInside Storyβ piece yesterday thatβs worth reading if you can access it.
05.05.2025 00:48 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Sounds credible, given the Coalition went to the election with so few policies, and almost none that were actually costed! The few they had were either βtweakedβ or dumped along the way.

Holly Hughes won't be voting for Taylor in the leadership ballot.
Not only stabbed her in the back, but developed no economic policy in 3 years, can't sell a message, was no challenge to Chalmers, divisive ...
