The final straw came with @kudelka.bsky.social - someone with a zillion followers - who mockingly reposted me (and lots of others with similar views, too), called me a delusional cult member when I objected and then blocked me.

A great talent but a small mind - what a nasty person he is!

What I’ve encountered here, though, is a lot of intolerance and some just plain meanness. I’ve been insulted and blocked for holding marginally different views to others (no, I will not vote for an indie in the Reps without transparency on minority govt support, and Greens have disappointed).

I don’t agree with everyone, nor do I expect everyone to agree with me. I enjoy banter and debate and am always interested in, and curious to hear about, others’ views, even if they don’t align with mine.

Not sure yet whether this will be a break or departure from @bluesky - feeling very disillusioned right now.

Thought this would be a great platform to express myself on #auspol and social/health policy, and have reconnected with many from X, and found others to follow and who have followed me.

Maybe they’ll learn from that and elect a new leader who will change that direction, negotiate constructively and win amendments to improve legislation.

Exactly the problem with the parliamentary lot. Anyone doesn't agree with them is wrong. Haven't progressed from protest group to political party.

True. The Greens federally seem to have decided to compete with Labor and put the perfect in the way of the good. Their decision on who will lead them from here will tell us which way they mean to go.

#Auspol With the Greens being required to pass Legislation ( unless Labor do deals with the Coalition ). Labor and the Greens should work very hard at passing Legislation with little Drama. Thr Greens have a chance to rebuild confidence in them if they are seen to respect Labors mandate.

The Greens may need to first accept that their obstructionism in the last term cost them seats!

There was an interesting piece in @aunz.theconversation.com recently, if you can find it, highlighting the seats in the last election where informal votes exceeded the winning margin, and the reasons why. Only a small proportion were deliberate.

The Greens were elected to negotiate better outcomes. Instead, they obstructed until the 11th hour and then let everything through.

Can’t believe I’m saying this, but the Greens should take a leaf out of Peter Dutton’s book and show some dignity in defeat. Whining about preferential voting - a cornerstone of fair representation in Australia - because it's not going their way, is a very bad look. #auspol

The stories are emerging. The Age/SMH ran a lengthy and detailed “Inside Story” piece yesterday that’s worth reading if you can access it.

Sounds credible, given the Coalition went to the election with so few policies, and almost none that were actually costed! The few they had were either “tweaked” or dumped along the way.

Howard started clearing “small l” Liberals out and his push was taken up more exuberantly by subsequent leaders. Those remaining were vulnerable to teal independents who would once have found a place in the Liberal Party.
