never fails to amaze that the conspiratorial right correctly deduced that the nation was being run by a secret cabal of elite pedophiles, were so justifiably horrified that they marshaled their forces to topple the institutions of power, and then voted for the pedophiles three times in a row.

So let me get this straight:

Also, I was explicitly told in IFS training that there is no doctrine and we are welcome to believe whatever we want about the nature of parts and Self. There can of course be a coalescing of beliefs that can become like a hidden doctrine of course, but I remain open to different interpretations.

For myself, as an autistic person as well, I’m not interested in normalization, but finding harmony. I’m curious, do you know for sure that plural people (I apologize for not knowing the correct terminology and feel free to fill me in) do not have access to a “meta-self?” I should state what I mean

That’s fair. Jobs are a cultural reality, not a fundamental one. I use it as shorthand for the notion of “repeated patterns of behavior, done for a specific purpose with a desired goal in mind.” I see your point of how the concept of job can carry more baggage than that.

I’m something of a pan-psychist, believing that consciousness exists in everything, so the distinction between souled and soul-less is an interesting one, but it’s not something I would claim to know.

I appreciate that correction. I was intending to convey “the plurals I met with” in a condensed way, but I can see how it became a slur by shortening it. I apologize.

That seemed to work for the plurals. I’m not trying to sell you on this, but I’m just curious to get feedback to inform my practice. Also a core trait of IFS is that jobs are not inherent and each “part” is a full personality that can change jobs. Curious to hear your thoughts?

I’m very curious about all this, and I can see how certain ways of viewing/doing IFS would be limiting for plurals. When I have done IFS with plurals, I view it as each plural having its own Self, with the potential that there *might* be a kind of meta-Self, but not assuming that there is.
