Had a claim denied by Aetna but joke’s on them because I’m a health economist on furlough. Bet they’ve never seen an appeal with a β€œmethods” section before.

But this is increasingly explicit at mainstream publications, which are hiring coaches to turn their reporters into influencers.

Right, it helps people get over the hump of discovery β€” oh who’s this guy talking with Simmons (or whomever).

That said it does mean the size of any publication is small because any star you incubate goes off to a new publication.

Are you...
1) a person, who

3) had an interesting experience they'd like to talk about with me?

I'd love to hear from anyone who has been at agencies protecting public health this year (eg CDC, HHS, HRSA, HUD, NIH, OSHA). Privacy respected. Signal is AmyMaxmen.25

🧡Here's a thread of some of my stories this year on the impact of the Trump administration on America's public health.

Interesting tidbit from the new Washington Post poll on the VA governor's race: at least in this poll's records, Trump's approval ratings in the state are the best they've ever been.

Haven’t listened to the interview, but in broader context, we’ve seen Thompson and Yglesias play along with similar views (ie that more people should be strategist/communicators, perhaps even almost all people on Twitter), so perhaps unfairly, I think people are reading it in that light.

Some of that (at least in the US) is they were aligned to popular critiques of college, whereas now those critiques are more focused on gender ideology or people not studying STEM.

On a slightly different tack, I guess my model is that there *used* to be significant snob representation in the critic class, so that someone like a Gene Siskel would go to bat for My Dinner With Andre or something. But now the type of guy who would advocate you read War and Peace is not present.
