Hi β€” new to BlueSky! I’m a journalist covering how health policy and systems impact people. Lately I’ve reported on federal cuts hitting a rural bioscience hub, a town recovering from meth, and a man who said he had to break Medicaid rules.

Based in Montana, I write for both πŸ“° and πŸ“»

you increasingly see NFL draft people complaining they don't know how to evaluate 25-year-old rookies. optimized world is kinda uncanny in the same way a lot of [BLANK]maxxing stuff is.

Trump and states in a tug of war over insurance and AI Both red and blue states are fighting against the use of artificial intelligence in health insurance determinations β€” but Trump disagrees.

Trump wants to deregulate AI, especially in healthcare. Red states and blue states alike, want to curb AI in health insurance. Here's a new battlefield:

President Trump required hospitals to post their prices online to help patients shop. But it’s mostly hospitals and insurers using the data, as fodder for contract negotiations.

β€œThere’s no evidence that patients use this information,” said one health economist.

Political culture of different exurbs is understudied also. Someone posted a good map of the 2024 election that showed number of votes from each county, and the gradient between red exurbs (probably won 2024 election for Trump) and blue ones (moved many states into Harris column) is unmissable.
