At mum's in UK. My laptop charger died. Got a USBC charger instead which charges at a rate of 1% every 72 hours it seems. Now ChatGPT is down. (I'm not authoring today, btw - I don't use ChatGPT to write my novels, before anyone asks).

I had to pay a few hundred in end to get mine back but they screwed up the launch of my 3rd novel so badly that I had no choice in end.

I think it’s just a learning curve about what to expect if you aren’t a chosen one with a big publisher to be honest…

I’m so on board with this - spent my life being ‘humble’ and self depreciating and all that happens is people believe you! I’m not saying be arrogant but I now *try* to make fair assessments without putting myself down.

How many of you get these automated dm’s from authors when you connect - always asking ‘how’s your writers journey going’ and very obviously ai chatbots?

It really makes me want to run a mile from them. It does seem to be a thing particular to here.

Haha - I’m feeling seen. After 6 years and 3 novels with a publisher that I felt hindered my progress I negotiated all my rights back in 2023.

With all that’s going on in fucking scary land, I’ve added a rainbow to my profile. I don’t normally lead with it but I feel visibility is important as the world changes and strips away our rights.

Honestly I think you have to stop thinking about it as a flop. I do get it - first published book and it feels like it - but writing and making a living and finding readers is super hard, it’s an ongoing effort. Keep writing, keep publishing and you’ll find readers. You’ve got this 👍
