Several important discoveries - the vallum ditch which was the boundary of the first monastery and separated sacred from secular areas, the name stones, the stories in several skeletons. The most intriguing was the shrine burial, a woman with a veil of gold thread.

Here's the cover image for my West Highland Peninsulas 2026 Calendar. Taken on a clear September night, it features the Corran Point Lighthouse in Ardgour beneath the Milky Way. This A4 calendar is £12.50 and can be ordered from my website at bit.ly/3K9uEXm.

All finds and all skeletons bagged and boxed and now at Durham University for research. It will take several years for that and writing the final report. After that, the human remains will be returned to Lindisfarne and reburied with a Christian reinterment.

I love seeing new cards for days earlier in the year. Some great photos of a stormy bay and hardy walkers braving the wind. You sum up people so well in their tags. Really easy to imagine them. I’d been wondering about Rita the Meter Maid and there she was. 👌 Hope weather settles for you. 💙❤️🤗

Definitely missing it all although I hadn’t fully realised how tired I am. Gradually getting back to my usual comings and goings. Flu jab this morning. 😁

Very striking photos of an unusual sky. Beautiful colours and so dramatic! Lovely to see so many regulars on the beach and nice to have a sit and think. At least the sun showed up yesterday even if the showers still hang around. 💙❤️🤗

Couldn’t resist calling in at Shap Abbey with its huge tower, nestled by the River Lowther. Founded in the 13th century by the Premonstratensian canons, many worked as priests in the local communities.
