Thanks to everyone who replied to this poll. We ended up switching to #1 as many of you said. Really happy with how it turned out :D

Yeah! Also, to me "presentation ready" could mean a screenshot or just directly adding someone to the file

I would love for you to try it! Where can I send you an invite link?

Help people make spreadsheets that are presentation-ready very quickly!

15.05.2023 17:40 — 👍 0    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

Thank you!

It has all the most commonly used functions! Like sum, average, if, and or, eomonth, index, match, etc, etc.

This was one of the most important things to me. To have the common spreadsheet functions and be able to reference any cell like you would in a spreadsheet!

Thanks!! Seems like 1 is overwhelmingly better haha

Thanks for the feedback! The bottom row is actually a "Formula symbol" and not a 1. You can toggle this row to be visible or not and what it does is easily sums, averages, mins, max, etc the entire column automatically. The resolution isn't great so it's hard to see 😅

Hah oops, was quickly putting this together to highlight design differences.

You're right though, right data is THE most important

The 1-10 is just like any other spreadsheet! If you add a row to this grid it will create 11 and beyond.

I think hiding these is actually a good idea. Same with the vertical lines. Would you be interested in user testing? I would love that :)

Thats such a good idea. In fact, I think I may remove ALL gridlines on default. Just looks better -- then folks can have the option to add back gridlines. Thoughts?

Hey Marty thanks so much! How can I get in contact with you? If you'd rather not share your email publicaly, can you shoot me an email at Jason[at]subset.so

I think the biggest difference is that our Spreadsheet by default makes tables look nice. We do it by the thousands of little opinionated design decisions we've made, but for example, instead of drawing a box around your data in Sheets to organize your sections, our blocks do that by default!

Awesome! Let's connect over email? How can I reach you? Or can you email me at jason at subset.so?

Looking to speak to people who care about design and making things look good...in this case spreadsheets.

I'd like to get feedback on Subset, which is focused on ~Spreadsheet Design~We want to make spreadsheets look good by default with minimal formatting (adding borders, adjusting columns, etc.)

Think I agree. Originally had 2 because we wanted more canvas space at the top instead of the entire white bar, but then the growing titles and stuff became too much.

Which do you like better? 1 or 2? Moving toolbars around is like a jigsaw puzzle 😅 1 is a mock up and 2 is in production (so there's a bit more polishing). Personally leaning towards 1 since it's a bit more ~professional~

😅 You're with the early adopter crowd!

I'm not sure I'd call it fear. More so clarity on what the most important thing is. But I still agree with you!

When you first start a company, it's easy to daydream about the distant future. Once you're in the startup grind for a while, all you think about is how to survive. It sounds stressful, but it's actually freeing to live in the moment and only focus on the immediate next thing.

Truth! I guess the part of this in AI land is "listening" to the response you get from GPT and then using that to re-prompt

I'm not the best at getting ChatGPT to do what I want, but I am definitely the nicest to ChatGPT. Seems to reflect my managerial skills 😅

03.05.2023 00:10 — 👍 0    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

I heard someone say "there is a direct correlation between how much value you get out of ChatGPT and how good of a manager you are." I can kind of see it. It's all about providing clear instructions.

Really like this slider thing Javen (engineer on our team) built for our onboarding. Surveys are really helpful for startups, but I can see how it can be a chore for new users. Things like this make it slightly more fun. Next up: have responses tailor onboarding experience!

I could see it being both, but it seems like an 80/20 thing to me where having the good product is the 80.
